This program was written using BASICA so you'll need
the language to run the program.
You should copy the three files needed onto a floppy
for use in drive A:. The files you should have are
BRAIN.BAS, QFILE.TXT, and B.ANS. The program will
create a fourth file on floppy to store the results.
Originally, callers to my BBS could take this test
online to give them an indication of their left/
right brain dominance. Many educators and students
still do not have modems, so I decided to write a
quick stand alone version of what's available on
The Academy for those who can't call in. The
program asks the user 30 questions to which the
answers A, B, or C are given. The user's answers
are analyzed to determine trends in brain dominance.
The program will give the percentage of dominance in
three areas, left/right/mixed, and also give the
user an indication of what preferences they have for
using their mind. The keyword here is indication.
No checks for how valid this program may be have been
conducted-- yet. If used carefully and only as a way
of getting very generalized results, teachers may
find the program useful in determining what learning
style is best for a particular student.
The results of each test are stored on the disk in
drive A: in a file called "RESULTS.TXT. This file
can be printed using whatever means is most suitable
in your case. However, after continued use the file
will grow in size, possibly past the capacity of the
floppy disk. I leave it to the user to take care of
this situation by periodically printing and then
deleting the file so more information can be added.
